Have you ever thought of the impact that a bouquet of flowers can have in a person's life?
I certainly hadn’t.
Until recently, floral design was just a hobby that I enjoyed.
It was a surprise when one of my students approached me after I taught at a hospitality workshop in Townsville, Australia.
“Hannah, you have no idea what the Lord is doing in my heart! I feel like I could cry.”
When I asked her what God was teaching her, I was surprised by her answer.
“Travelling all this way for this seminar would have been worth it just for this.
We have these flowers everywhere in Papua New Guinea and we don’t even think twice about it. They are weeds to us. But now I can use them for my ministry.
When I go home to Papua New Guinea I can make these flowers for the women who are lonely, widowed or beaten by their husbands.
"... I can take these flowers to the women and pray for them and it will bring hope, life and beauty.”
Needless to say by the end of this conversation I was tearing up.
Who would have thought that God would use a simple floral design workshop to do such a deep work in people's hearts?
I realised that floral design was more than just a hobby. Flowers bring courage and hope for the future. That's why we send flowers to our sick relatives, or when someone passes away. Flowers bring a sense of peace, calmness, and that “everything is going to be okay.”
God’s beauty is all around us—it is up to us to recognize it, pull it out, and use it to bring courage to the world around us.
How can you use the resources around you to express God’s heart?
Wondering how your passion can become your mission?
